Gerald W. (Chuck) Mitchell, 76, of Pine Bluff, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR.
Chuck was born in Van Buren, Arkansas March 31, 1937 to Carl and Doris Mitchell, who preceded him in death.
He was reared and educated at Van Buren High School, graduating in 1957. He joined the military and spent a short active-duty career, followed by an 8-year reserve duty span. Mr. Mitchell retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal in 1993 where he spent a long career. He enjoyed a lengthy retirement playing gold, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Janette Kay Dennis Mitchell, whom he married July 3, 1958 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Other survivors include three children and their spouses: Robin Mosely (Cecil), Denise Colson, and Gerald Mitchell, Jr. (Marla). Chuck was known as "Papoo" to his grandchildren, which include Tommy Mosely (Amanda), Mitchell Mosely, Ashley Cole (Ryan), Hunter Colson, and Landen Colson. Additionally, he is survived by a sister Nell Feldman (Marty) of San Jose, CA, Mike Mitchell (Polly) of Tucson, AZ, Ronald "Butch" Mitchell (Dana) of Van Buren, AR; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Jan Dennis Mitchell, 79 of Pine Bluff passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in her home.
She was a retired biology teacher for the Pine Bluff School Systems and a member of the First Assembly of God in Pine Bluff. She loved watching her grandsons play baseball and traveling with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Chuck) Mitchell, her mother Clarice Sisk, her step-father Charles Sisk, her father Gene Dennis, Sr., and a brother Gene Dennis, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters Robin Mosley and husband Cecil and Denise Colson and husband Ken all of Pine Bluff; one son Gerald Mitchell, Jr., and wife Marla of Pine Bluff; one sister-in-law Dana Mitchell and her husband Butch of Van Buren; five grandchildren Tommy and Mitchell Mosely, Landen and Hunter Colson, and Ashley Mitchell; four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Mosley, Mitchell Mosley, Tyler Foster-Mosley, Ken Colson, Hunter Colson and Landen Colson.
Arrangements are being handled by Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.
