Mrs. Laura Whitten Hunter, 78, of Prescott died in a Prescott nursing home early Wednesday after a lengthy illness. She made her home in El Dorado for a number of years with a daughter, Mrs. A. J. Gregory. Born in Nevada County, she was the daughter of William Riley and Nora Hill Whitten. For many years she operated a general store in Laneburg (Nevada County). She was a member of the Nazarene Church. Survivors include three sons, Ira Hunter and Earl Hunter of Prescott and Noah Hunter of Laneburg; three daughters, Mrs. Denver Casey of North Little Rock, Mrs. Gregory now of El Paso, Tex., and Mrs. Pearl Thrasher of Prescott; three brothers, Amon Whitten of Hope, Alex Whitten of Bagwell, Tex., and Ellis A. Whitten of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Moon of Texarkana and Mrs. Belle Snelson of Knox City, Tex.; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Other local relatives include Mrs. Major Nodini, Mrs. Charles Huskey and Fred J. White. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Cornish Mortuary in Prescott.
