Billy Brummett Sr., 77, died at Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.

Billy Sr., was born on May 19, 1939 in Columbia County. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1962, he came back to Southern Arkansas and Northern Louisiana, where he spent his life working on the oilfield and playing music.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Barber; his grandparents, Bennie and Annie Brummett; as well as Billy Jr.'s mother, Louise Brummett.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Brummett of Taylor; his brother, Virgil Barber of Magnolia; his sons, Steven Bailey and Billy Brummett Jr., of Magnolia; his daughters, Marie Bailey of Bossier City, LA, Lynette Murphy of Magnolia and Brenda Johnson of Magnolia; and his seven grandchildren, Logan, Caylea and Brianna Brummett of Magnolia, David and Tiffany Danh of Hot Springs, Bridgett Bass of Mesquite, TX, Michael Young of Dallas, TX, Desstanie Parham of Magnolia and James Moore of Springhill, LA, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. July 9, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Magnolia, and will be officiated by Rev. Barbara Lewis. A celebration of life luncheon will be held immediately following the service.
