DODGE, Inez Louise WILSON - Mrs. J.H. Dodge died Saturday, October 13th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Sager, southwest of Rogers. Mrs. Dodge had been in failing health for some time and her death was not unexpected. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Central Methodist church and were conducted by Rev. J.A. Womack, the pastor. Burial was by the side of her husband, the late J.H. Dodge, who died March 4, 1922 in this city. Inez Louise Wilson was born at Ball Town, Mo. February 26, 1852 and was 76 years old when she died. She grew to womanhood in her home town and was married February 27, 1870 to John Hovey Dodge. In 1873 they moved to Gage county, Nebraska and came to Rogers in 1887 where she had since made her home with the exception of a short period spent at Mena, Ark. Mr. Dodge was for many years miller with the Rogers Milling Co. On coming to Rogers she, with her family, united with the Congregational church of which she was a faithful and active member in all departments until it united with the Presbyterian church when she became a member of the Central Methodist church of Rogers. Mrs. Dodge is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.S. Sager of Rogers and Mrs. W.L. Mathers of Ft. Smith. There are also five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Since the death of Mr. Dodge she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sager, save for a time when she kept house in town with her granddaughter, Miss Ruby Sager of First National Bank. In the death of Mrs. Dodge Rogers loses one of the women who helped so greatly in the formative period of our city and with her husband and daughters were among the best known citizens of its early days. Following so closely after the death of Mrs. R.P. Owens, another member of the old Congregational church, the first Rogers church and for many years a leader because of its connection with Rogers Academy, we are remembering that but few of these pioneers are left to remind us of the debt the community owes to their splendid lives of service.
