Ben O. Holmes, 81, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Thursday, January 20, 2005. He was retired from the Army after 25 years of service. After his retirement from the Army he worked on heavy equipment and worked in the medical supplies field. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sebastian Masonic Lodge No. 706 F & AM, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Amrita Grotto, and the Center of Arts for Education in Van Buren. He was a member and past commander of Americann Legion Post No. 31.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with interment at Roselawn Cemetery with full military honors.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, one daughter, two sons, one sister, two brothers, and one grandson.

March 27, 1933 - July 25, 2003

Ms. Carolyn(Actkinson)Holmes, of Fort Smith(Sebastian County), Arkansas, died Friday, July 25, 2008, in Fort Smith. Ms. Holmes was 75 years old. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith; a retired bookkeeper and secretary for Morrison Elementary School in Fort Smith; and she was a bookkeeper for Yuterman's Market for 30 years.
Ms. Holes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years: Ben Holmes Sr.; and a brother: William Actkinson.
Ms. Holmes was instrumental in buying St. Michael's Catholic Church and helping it to become an active art center for adults and children. She also enjoyed working with the Girl Scouts at Echols School and Y teens at the UMCA.

Ms. Holmes is survived by a daughter: Paula Vaughn and her husband: Jerry, of Pocola, Oklahoma; two sons: Ben Holmes Jr., of Conway, Arkansas, and Charles HOlmes of Chester, Arkansas; two sisters: Claudia Lily of Barling, Arkansas, and Dallas Jane Jackson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one precious grandson: Jeremy Vaughn of Pocola, Oklahoma; and many friends.
Funeral servic was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 10:00a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers were: Bill Warren, George Warren, Mitchell Vinsant, Brandon Mercer, James Dempsey, and Melvin Branham.
Honoray pallbearers were: Larry Johnson and Phillip Haley.
