Curtis Howard Butterfield, a long-time resident of Parkers Chapel, died July 4, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born on December 17, 1939 in Smackover, Arkansas.
He was a graduate of Smackover High School and attended Ouachita Baptist University. Curtis was a member of Three Creeks Baptist Church. He served as the Union County Coroner from January 2003 to present, and served as Deputy Coroner prior to being elected. Curtis served his county for many years as a previous member of the Parkers Chapel School Board, Union County Highway Supervisor, Union County Quorum Court member and El Dorado News Times Sports Writer and Editor. His priorities were God, family and being a Public Servant.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Merry Alice Millican Butterfield; and grandson, Joshua, who went to be with the Lord at birth.

Curtis is survived by his loving family including his son Jimmie of El Dorado; son Matthew, wife Andrea and grandson Ethan, of Prosper, Texas. Since Ethan’s birth in January of 2015, he was the light of his life and the reason he woke up each morning.

He is also survived by his sister, Janice Brewer and her husband Jerry of Junction City, and his many cousins, nieces and nephews all of which he loved dearly.

The service will be held at Three Creeks Baptist Church on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM. It will be officiated by Pastor Bubba Gurley and Pastor Tracy Roden. The burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

Visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The pallbearers will be Bruce Wayne Woolsey, Craig Calvery, Jeff Powers, Craig Jones, Mike Loftin, and Ricky Roberts. Honorary pall bearers will be Jerrell Millican, Wayne Rainwater, Jerry Bohnen, Jerry Brewer and all Union County First Responders.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that you please make a donation to Life Touch Hospice. This will allow more people in need to be able to experience the love and caring that the facility provides. In our families’ opinion, this is one of the finest facilities in the nation
