FAYETTEVILLE — On Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, the Lord called Harley Estes home to be with Him. He was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Paducah, Ky., to Harley G. and Pearl Newsome Estes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harley was a heavy equipment operator for Estes Construction which he owned. He was a kind and loving man who loved kids and animals. He was a man of his word and was due all the love and respect he received from all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pauline Estes of the home; three sons, Kirk Estes and wife, Tonya of Plano, Texas, Jimmy Slavens of Hogeye, Ark., and Rocky Slavens and wife, Terri of Fayetteville; a daughter, Donna Bridger and husband, Andy of Rochester, N.H.; a sister, Ora Mae Swafford of Mayfield, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Harley will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Beard's Chapel.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at Buckner Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Buckner Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, the Lord released Pauline Estes of all her earthly bonds and called her to be home to be with Him in Heaven. She was 92 years old.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ava Southern; her husband, Harley; two brothers, Edward and Maurice Southern; and a sister, Dorothy Gooding.

Pauline was born in Blackburn, AR. She worked as an accountant for Arkansas Best Corp. until she retired. She loved working in politics (local, state and federal). Pauline was a yellow dog democrat to the very end. She attended Buckner Baptist Church. She loved her family

Her passing hurts her family and friends, but we know she is happy to be with the Lord and Harley now. We are all happy for her.

Pauline is survived by her children, son, Rocky Slavens and his wife Terri, son, Jimmy Slavens, and her daughter, Donna Bridger and husband Andy; a sister, Joann Southern; stepson, Kirk Estes and wife Regina; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Betty Gullige.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Buckner Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service-time at the funeral home on Tuesday.
