Don D. Crawford, 73, of El Dorado died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family Wednesday December 3, 2008 . He was born July 16, 1935 in Smackover, Arkansas and is the son of Jim Crawford and Dorothy Pepper and was raised in Smackover.
Don was a 32 degree shriner in the Masonic Lodge #13 in El Dorado. He was the Justiice Of Peace for District 8 from l985 to l996. He was a police reserve officer, and was a salesman at American Supply for 18 years. He owned and operated Crawford Plumbing from 1968 to 2000. After his retirement Don spent his time caring for his farm and oil wells and visiting family and friends at the farm.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents Jim Crawford and Dorothy Clawson Pepper, an infant son and granddaughter Ashley Nicole Dover.
Donald married Shirley Jean Massey Crawford. They had five children, one son; Donnie D. Crawford (Renee'), four daughters; Debby Lindsay, Sharon Dover (Donnie), Donna Barker (Allen), Tara Davis (Chris) all of El Dorado, grandchildren; Casey Wilson (T.J.), Shea Crawford, Randee Lindsey, Breezie Dover, Chris Barker (LaSandra), Kayla Barker, J.P. Davis, and Brennan Davis, great - grandchildren; Haden and Hank Wilson and Audreyauana Barker due January 18, 2008.
Funeral services will be Saturday December 6, 2008 at Green Grove Chapel in Strong with Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Barker, Shea Crawford, J.P. Davis, Ronnie Lindsey, Allen Barker, Donnie Dover, Chris Davis, Brennan Davis, and Haden Wilson. Honoraries will be Roland Ponthieux, Lawrence Washka, Danny G. Washington, Buddy Paul, Jimmy Smith, Bill Wilson, Harold Chandler, Maurice Barker, and Les Chandler. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Visitation will be at 364 Patterson Loop, El Dorado, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 3100 Sanford, Shreveport, LA, 71103
