John Allen Wells, 85 of Strong, AR went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas after a brief illness. He was born on October 1, 1928, to Jessie Wells and Vera Hixon in Bonita, LA.

John served in the US Navy as a Seaman 1st Class. He retired from International Paper Company Pine Bluff, AR Mill as a maintenance supervisor. He loved to hunt and fish, although his most loved sport was hitting a little white ball around on green grass – naturally golf.

Preceding him in death was his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Wells; his parents; brother, Bill Wells; sister, Doylyn Woods Elkins; son, Fredric Mark Wells; great grandson, Kayden Allen; and son-in-law, William “Bill” Youngblood.

He leaves behind his daughter, Vicky Frisby Youngblood of El Dorado; son, Bennie Allen Wells and his companion Lisa Robards of Strong; three grandchildren, Amy Frisby Hannaford and husband Jason of Columbus, MS, Tim Wells and wife Crystal of El Dorado, Ashley Allen and husband Josh of El Dorado; eight great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013, at Green Grove Chapel with Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
