Katie “Charlene” Weseman, age 87, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Friday, April 14, 2023 in Ozark. She was born January 30, 1936 in Martinville, Mississippi to John C. and Myra Shearer. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James H. Weseman; and a brother, John L. Shearer.

In her early years, she worked at Jenkins Drugstore, Stovall Drugstore, Steptoes Jewelry Store all in Carthage, Texas. After moving to Waskom, Texas, she worked at the “Coffee Cup Cafe.” Later, she worked in Marshall, Texas at the Louis Factory making military parachutes. In 1968, the family moved to Arkansas, first living for a short time in Ratcliff, Arkansas before
permanently moving to Ozark.

After moving to Ozark, Charlene worked at Garan Clothing Factory, Brown’s Flowers, Paris Flowers, Clarksville Florist, Lane’s Glass and Brass, The Blossom Shop, Briley’s Blossom Shop, The Blossom Basket, The Antique Rose, and Emily’s Florist. She was an evening hostess at Shaffer Funeral Home for almost 21 years. She served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church of lmOzark. Charlene resided at the Ozark Nursing Home.

Charlene is survived by one daughter, Jamie McGehee and husband Neil of Ozark; one son, Mark Weseman and wife Angela of Ozark; six grandchildren, Lauren Marshall and husband Casey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ashley Campbell and husband Kevin of Centerton, Arkansas,
Kimberly King and husband Joseph of Fayetteville, Arkansas, George McGehee of Bentonville, Arkansas, Cortnie McDade and husband Taylor and Cody Weseman all of Ozark; three great- grandchildren, Alivia Campbell, Lily Marshall, Jesse King and two more on the way; one sister, Judy Shearer Foster of Carthage, Texas;

Visitation will be Monday, April 17th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 18th at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with A. Ben Lairamore and John Bennett officiating with burial at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law; Cody Weseman, Taylor McDade, Casey Marshall, Kevin Campbell, Joseph King and George McGehee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Newton, Don Ed, and Jack Shaffer, Casey White, Jan Akins, Stan Rash, Bobby Sanders, Gary Looney, Melissa Martinez, and Ashley Owens.
