September 24, 1909 - February 4, 1973
Mrs. Ethel O. Bass, 63, of 502 Poplar St., Smackover, died Sunday in an El Dorado hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept. 24, 1909 in Lillie, La., she was the daughter of Horton and Rhella Lowery Wisinger. She was a resident of Smackover since 1922 and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Smackover. Survivors include her husband, Wiley Mack Bass, Sr. of Smackover; three sons, Wiley M. Bass, Jr. of Smackover, James C. Bass and Walter C. Bass, both of El Dorado; a brother, James Wisinger of Oakland, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Ewing and Mrs. Charlie Ewing, both of Smackover and Miss Paul Terrell of Jackson, Miss. and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. at Young's Chapel with the Rev. W. N. Harris officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Young's. The family will be at the Walter Bass residence, 719 West Second St., El Dorado. Pallbearers will be Bobby Edwards, James H. Ewing, Tommy Dale Ewing, Gene Buchanan, Harold Scott and James Howe.
