Edwin Roland Gray, 79 of Katy, TX formerly of Smackover, AR, died on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.
Born on June 28, 1934 in Smackover, AR; he was the son of Roy and Edna Beck Gray. Edwin was a graduate of Smackover High School and member of 1949 State Champion Football Team; he later graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Edwin began his career as a petroleum engineer with Phillips Petroleum and later worked as a consultant. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Betty Meeks.

Survivors are his wife of 56 years Darline Smalling Gray of Katy, TX, 3 sons Tommy (Carol) Gray of Katy, TX, Darwin (Debbie) Gray of Cat Springs, TX and Johnny Gray of Spring Valley, TX, a sister Marilyn (Charles) Chenoweth of Tulsa, OK. Along with grandchildren Katie (Brandon) Roberts, Troy Glen Gray, Lacie Darlene Gray, Nolan (Darlene) Gray, Breanna Darlene (Chris) Lessing, Haylee Gray, Amie Gray and great grandchildren Maximus Roberts, Jacob Gray, Ashland Gray, Hunter Gray, and Aaron Lessing.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Young’s Funeral Directors with Kent Jobe officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City, AR. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm at Young’s.
