Richard E. “Dick” Perkins, 91, of Norphlet, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017, at his residence. He was born November 6, 1925, to W.H. and Claudia Taylor Perkins in Smackover, AR.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He worked as the pipe line manager for Lion Oil for over 50 years and was an independent oil producer. He was a life-long member of Norphlet United Methodist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, lay leader and taught the men’s Sunday school class for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Linda Jean Perkins.

Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Martha Perkins of Norphlet; two daughters, Susan Carmichael (Dewayne) of El Dorado, Carolyn Perkins of Norphlet; two grandsons, Chase Carmichael (Taylor), Chad Carmichael (Jenny); granddaughter; Miranda Perkins; brother, James H. “Jim” Perkins; and two great granddaughters, Caroline and McKinzy.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Young’s.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Norphlet United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Newberry officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
