John Thomas Watkins Jr. May 01, 1935 - November 08, 2019
John Thomas Watkins, Jr., 84, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Friday, November 8, 2019 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was retired after serving 43 years with the U.S. Forest Service. He was a member of the Ozark First United Methodist Church, an avid wood worker and an avid Razorback fan.
He was born May 1, 1935 in McComb, Mississippi to John Thomas Watkins, Sr. and Kathrine Goza Watkins. He is survived by his wife, Sara Alice Mabry Watkins of Ozark; two sons, John Thomas Watkins, III, and wife Gwen of Little Rock, Arkansas and Doyle Watkins and wife Mandy of Clarksville; two daughters, Laurabeth Johnston and husband Jeff of Cookson, Oklahoma and Amanda Banning and husband Michael of Clarksville; a sister, Joanie Schuler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 11, 2019 at Ozark First United Methodist Church with Brother Darrel Bridges and Brother Carlton Cross officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday, November 10th at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Johnston, Michael Banning, Ty Watkins, Will Watkins, Josh Watkins, Colton Smith, and Conner Nowotny.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Helping Our Kids,P.O. Box 89, Scranton, Arkansas 72863.
