Kay Rice Hetland, 68, of Montrose, died Sunday, February 9,
2020, at the Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas. Mrs.
Hetland was a native and lifelong resident of Montrose. She
worked in Public Relations in the Casino Industry. Mrs. Hetland
was a member of the Portland Baptist Church, a former Director of
the Miss Ashley County Pageant and she volunteered at the
Montrose Academy when her children were in school. She loved
spending time with her family and enjoyed watching her
grandchildren play ball.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Tommy
Hetland in 2019; her parents, Kenneth & Beatrice Breedlove Rice;
a brother, Lamar Rice and a nephew, Aaron Rice.
She is survived by two daughters, Nicole Menard of Pocahontas
and Tabitha Hetland of Grand Prairie, Texas; a brother, Mark Rice
of Boydell; two grandchildren, Jordan Kay Menard and Ty Menard
and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020, in the
Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the
Montrose Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Dodson,
Ricky Russell, Greg Eubanks, Jared Rice, Adam Rice and Nick
Rice. Memorials may be made to Jones-Hartshorn Funeral
Home.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home chapel
