Mr. Millard E. Phillips, 70, of Crossett, went to be with his Lord, Thursday
at his residence in Crossett. Mr. Phillips was a native of Fountain Hill; a
resident of Crossett for the past 44 years and a former resident of
Hamburg. He was a veteran of the National Guard having served six
years and he graduated in 1959 from the University of Arkansas at
Monticello with a degree in Business Administration. He retired from the
Georgia Pacific Corporation Purchasing Department in 1990. He was an
active member of the First Baptist Church in Crossett having served as
a Sunday School teacher for many years and he was active in the
Prayer Room Ministry. He was an avid sport fan, loving the Arkansas
Razorbacks, Crossett Eagles and Hamburg Lions, especially watching
his great-nieces and nephews perform. After retirement he spent many
hours doing volunteer work at the local hospital helping others that
could not help them selves. He was a loving husband, dad and
granddad; spending time with his family that he was blessed with was
one of his greatest pleasures. He is preceded in death by his parents,
Robert Ray and Ora Hester Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 46
years, Edith Scott Phillips of Crossett; two daughters, Joni Phillips Krisell
and husband, Tim, of Mablevale, AR and Julie Phillips Vaden and
husband, Tim, of Crossett; two brothers, Bill Phillips and wife Jo Ann, of
Crossett and James Phillips and wife, Maxine, of Houston, TX; two
sisters, Elsa Cason and husband, Velton, of Fountain Hill and Gladys
Lane and husband, Charles, of Lubbock, TX; a granddaughter, Meredith
Brooke Krisell and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday at the First Baptist
Church in Crossett with Rev. Jeff Smart and Keith Long officiating. Burial
will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Terry Phillips, Chris
Kelley, Sam Evans, Keith Long, Craig McRae, Jack McDonald, Chris
Sexton, Tony Hartley, Earl Murphy and Bobby Lamar. Honorary
pallbearers are Greg Rabalais, Damon Dean, James Russell, Tommy
Hooks, Charles Baxley, Howard Watts, L.A. Collins, Edwin Johnson and
Dr. Alan Wilson. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of
Crossett Building Fund, 701 Main Street, Crossett, AR 71635

Edith Scott Phillips, 77, of Crossett, died Saturday, February 17, 2018.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Fountain Hill; a resident of Crossett for the
past 54 years and a former resident of Hamburg. She was a 1958
graduate of Hamburg High School where she played basketball and was
a cheerleader. Mrs. Phillips worked as a Loan Officer and Vice
President for 12 years at First State Bank. She retired in 2003 from the
Crossett School District after 23 years of service and she sold AVON.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the First Baptist Church where she
worked in the nursery for many years and was involved in the Prayer
Room Ministry. She was also a member of the Ashley County Medical
Center Ladies Auxiliary for 10 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Millard E. Phillips
in 2007; her parents, Aubrey D. & Trudy Wigley Scott; two brothers,
James “Jim” Scott and Louis Aubrey Scott and two sisters, Betty Maxwell
and Martha Kelley.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie Phillips Vaden and husband,
Tim, of Crossett and Joni Phillips Krisell and husband, Tim; a
granddaughter, Meredith Brooke Krisell all of Mablevale and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the First
Baptist Church of Crossett with Rev. Jamie Staley officiating. Burial will
be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chris Kelley, Keith Long,
Sam Evans, Jack McDonald, Craig McRae and Chris Sexton. Honorary
pallbearers are Bill Phillips, James Phillips, Tommy Hooks, Bobby
Richardson, Dale Hester, Bill Hester and Damon Dean. Memorials may
be made to the First Baptist Church, 701 Main Street, Crossett, AR
71635.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home
