Donald Louis Garner, age 84, of Camden, died Friday, June 17, 2016. He was born November 11, 1931 in Modesto, CA. He was a Navy Veteran having served during Korean Conflict. He was retired from the International Paper Company in 1994. Mr. Garner was also a bi-vocational pastor and pastored many churches in South Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna Landreth Garner; three children, Camille Garner DeVaney of Camden, and husband, Charles of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Machelle Garner Jones and husband, Jim of El Dorado and Rodney Garner and wife, Diane of Camden; sister, LaVerne Garner Scott of Mobile, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Earmon Marks of Camden, Bobby Marks and wife, Doris of Springdale and brother-in-law, Dennis Shaffer of Kounte, TX; and sister-in-law, Sandra Alm of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adrienne Greenlee Queen and husband, Sean of Arkadelphia, Keith Greenlee of Camden, Jason Jones and wife, Laura of Ruston, Louisiana, Stephen Jones and wife, Bridget of Maumelle, Bryan Jones and wife, Susan of West Linn, Oregon, Melanie Garner Guy and husband, Dennis of Gravette, Melissa Bell of Camden, Yvonne Johnson and husband, Scott of Shreveport, and Caleb Bell and wife, Jessica of Camden; seventeen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and stepchildren, Kimberly Phillips and husband, Kevin of Cabot, Kelly Johnson and husband, Bill of Brandon, MS, Louis Landreth and wife, Connie of Benton.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Marks Garner; parents, Lourell and Thelma Garner; great-grandchild, Braydon Cole Jones; brother, Boyd Garner; brothers-in-law, Doyal Scott and James Marks; and sisters-in-law, Vivian Hardin Marks and Sandy Pope Marks.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 20, 2016 at Bethesda Cemetery with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Smackover. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. Carley Davis and Dr. Jimmy Burks will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Smackover Building Fund. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
