Carmen Layne Vaughn, 30-year-old resident of Decatur, Arkansas, died in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on May 30, 2022. She was born to Cheryl Owens on April 25, 1992, in Denver, Colorado. She graduated Decatur High School and Blue Cliff College with an Associates as a dental assistant. Carmen served in the Marines during Operation Enduring Freedom. She enjoyed going outside and spending time with her son.

She is preceded by her mother, Cheryl Owens Lowe; her maternal grandparents, Retha and Ervin Owens; and her paternal grandparents, Milton and Stella Lowe.

She is survived by her son, Atticus Ray Maddox of the home; one sister, Whitney Evans-Smith and husband Gavin of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one brother, Dylan Pete Lowe of North Carolina; three half-sisters, Kelsey McPherson of Decatur, Arkansas, Kiersten Gregory of Decatur, Arkansas, and Kara Gregory of Decatur, Arkansas; her dad, Mike Lowe of Decatur, Arkansas; five uncles, Larry Owens and wife Kathy of Lowell, Arkansas, Dennis Owens and wife Connie of Cherokee City, Arkansas, Bryan Owens and wife Twila of West Fork, Arkansas, Ike Owens and wife Timmie of Decatur, Arkansas, Aaron Owens and wife Carol of Decatur, Arkansas; three nieces; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Wasson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, Arkansas.
