W.H. "Bill" Holmes, 84 of Waldo, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 at Magnolia City Hospital in Magnolia.
He was born March 16, 1924 in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late Cecil and Lena Holmes. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force serving during World War II, a member of Central Baptist Church and was the Director of the Magnolia Housing Authority for forty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene Holmes.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Holmes of Magnolia; two daughters, Sherry Wilson of Texarkana, Arkansas, Teresa Sawyer and husband Mike of Arlington, Texas; one son, Stephen Michael Holmes and wife Debbie of Magnolia; four granddaughters, Stephanie Ethridge of Waco, Texas; Wendy Holmes and Dana Holmes of Magnolia, Jennifer Gray of El Paso, Texas; four grandsons, Justin Gray of Mansfield, Texas, Josh Gray of Texarkana, Texas, Jason Gray of Toronto, Canada, William Holmes of Magnolia; four great granddaughters, Katelyn Ethridge of Texarkana, Arkansas, Allison Gray of El Paso, Texas, Autumn Gray of Arlington, Texas, Jaylynn Gray of Texarkana, Texas; and two great grandsons, Matthew Ethridge and Jacob Rabalais both of Waco, Texas.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Waldo Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Family visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
