Daniel Dean “Danny” Drake, 63, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home in Mountain Home, AR.

He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 23, 1957, to Dean and Virginia (Carver) Drake. He moved with his family to Mountain Home in 1972 and graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1975. After graduating from the Rudder Naval Training Center in 1976 and serving in the U.S. Navy abroad, he attended Arkansas College of Technology. He became a NABER Certified Technician and established a long-standing career in communications technology for the railroad. His work gave him the opportunity to live in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas before returning to Mountain Home to be near family. He enjoyed getting to know local residents through his work at Home Depot and watching his two grandsons grow and thrive.

Wherever he lived or traveled, he liked exploring local sites and festivals, and a visit to the zoo was always on his itinerary. He had a great love of the ocean and spent a season working alongside his sister, Carrie Drake, on a private yacht. A voracious reader, he was rarely found without a book nearby and had a particular passion for science fiction. His sharp sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Julie Drake and Carrie Drake and his father, Dean Drake. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Bethany Drake of Mountain Home; grandsons, Hayden and Ethan Drake of Mountain Home; mother, Virginia (Carver) Drake of Mountain Home; three sisters, Denise Pearson Bethea (Bill) of Conway, Lisa Wicker (Tim) of Benton, and Jennifer Drake (Nan) of Boston, Massachusetts and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
