Lena Elizabeth Askins Russell, 82 of Van Buren, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She died as the result of an automobile accident on Interstate 540 at Phoenix Avenue in Fort Smith on January 3.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church of Van Buren, Chapter P, PEO and Unity Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by husbands, J.W. Cotton and Haskell Russell, a grandson, J. Cody Nutt, five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Parker & husband Johnny of Van Buren; Beverly Taylor of Eureka Springs; two sons, Jim Cotton & Bill Cotton both of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; one sister, Caroline Moore of Charleston.

Funeral was 10 a.m. Thursday, January 6 at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Moore, David Manus, Leon Askins, Bob Morris, Doug Morris and Clark Cain.

Honorary pallbearers were Heritage Unity Sunday School Class and her Chapter P, PEO Sisters.
