Christi Veasey Berry, age 42 of Dermott, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 in Dermott. She was born April 21, 1974 to the late Shannon Veasey and Francene Matthews. She confessed her love for Christ at an early age and attended Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church where she served as a choir member and Sunday school secretary. She later joined the Word Church and frequently visited Mt. Olive AME in Lacey, AR. Despite her circumstances, her faith never waivered.

She attended Monticello Schools where she graduated in 1992. Shortly after graduation, she joined the United States Marine Corps where she served several years. After completing her service, she graduated from SAU Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked a number of years caring for people in various walks of Life. Everyone that encountered her was able to experience an outpour of unconditional love, laughs and resilient strength that no sickness could erase.

Survivors include two sons, Justin Berry and Demarcus Berry; one sister, Shalonda (Johnathan) Matthews-Joiner; one step-brother, Johnathan Robinson; one aunt, Tyronza David; two uncles, Dalton (Martha) Fisher and Kent (Sandra) Spencer; one niece, Legaci Joiner, one nephew, Josiah Joiner; special cousins, Vanessa (Randall) Spencer-Powell, Tanisha David and Cassandra David; a dedicated caregiver and friend, JoAnn Graham and a host of cousins and many devoted friends.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Lacey Cemetery.
