*Obituary

Emogene Capshew was born August 22, 1926, in the roaring 1920’s in Coal Hill, to Emma (O’Brien) and George Shepherd.
She grew up during the depression in the 1930’s when horse buggies and cars were sharing the road. Her adventuresome spirit took her to San Francisco, where she worked with her sister, Florence, building WW2 ships, where she met and married her love, Charles Waterson, a Navy sailor.

They had 3 lovely children: Joan, Kenny and Bev, and enjoyed life and traveling.
After Charles’ death, she and her young children moved back to Clarksville, and later married Richard Capshew, and had twins Pat and Peg. Her great loves were family and faith.

She went to heaven on January 4, 2021, of Alzheimer’s disease.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Charles Waterson and Richard Capshew; and siblings Florence Darby, George Shepherd, Beatrice Parker, and Joe Shepherd.

She is survived by her sister Barbara Syfert, her children: Joan Brooke Pitts and husband Don; Ken Waterson and wife Ginny; Bev Gibson and husband Jimmy; Pat Edmunds and husband Jerry Baughman; and Peg Breeding; and nine loving grandchildren and 8 adoring great-grandchildren.

She’ll be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery. Private graveside service under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
