T.J. Latting, 84 of Saffell passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020. He was born May 23, 1935 in Saffell, Arkansas to Abe and Jennie Latting. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ola Sharp and Ila Saffell.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vernia Faye Latting of the home; two sons, Greg Latting (Lisa) of Tuckerman and Oren Latting of Saffell; one daughter, Delise Coles of Strawberry; one brother, Abe Latting Jr. (Bonnie) of Moline, Illinois; three sisters, Mabel Linebaugh and Marie Sharp both of Jonesboro and Treva Voyles (Charles) of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Logan Matthews (Cord), Andy Latting, Alysia Coles, Makenly Coles and Jeffery Coles; two great grandchildren, Levi Daxton Latting and Colton Matthews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Curt Howard and Bro. Matt Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery at Dowdy with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Andy Latting, Jeffery Coles, Jackie Crews, Paul Dale Vaulner, Winred Saffell, Reginald Saffell and Kenneth Holbert.

Verna Faye Latting, 84 of Saffell passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021. She was born March 26, 1937 in Dowdy, Arkansas to Avery P. and Lena Martha Sanders Kennedy. She was a homemaker and worked several years for General Tire in Batesville. She was a member of the Independence County Extension Homemakers Club and a member of Saffell Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, T.J. Latting; two brothers, Joe Kennedy and Pete Kennedy and two sisters, Bernice Richey and Evelyn Lance.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Latting (Lisa) of Tuckerman and Oren Latting of Saffell; one daughter, Delise McGuire (Dennis) of Powhatan; two brothers, George Kennedy (Caroletta) of Saffell and Delbert Kennedy (Mae) of Cord; seven grandchildren, Logan Matthews (Cord), Andy Latting, Alysia Branscum (Thomas), Makenly Coles, Jeffery Coles (Erika), Kenneth Holbert and Elizabeth Holbert; two great grandchildren, Levi Daxton Latting and Colton Matthews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
