Paul David Bates was born November 19, 1930, in Eldorado, AR, Union County.
He departed this life on November 14, 2019, at the age of 88 years.

On August 17, 1953 he was joined in marriage to Owalah Lou Fields. There were three daughters born to this union: Melony Kay,Lesa Faye and Annette Alise, In his early years, Paul worked for Modern Office Supply Company in Oklahoma City. He later moved to Durango, Colorado, where he worked for J.C. Penney's. In 1970, he left J.C. Penney's and began his full time ministry with the Church of Christ doing what he loved the most, preaching the Gospel. He moved to Clarksville, AR in 1991, where he helped to establish the City Park Church of Christ.

Paul is survived by his wife Owalah Lou Bates; two daughters Melony Kay Cutchall and husband Donny; Lesa Faye Avaritt and husband Keith; seven grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John Madison and Alma Cora (Murphy) Bates; three sisters; four brothers; and one daughter Annette Alise.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Avaritt & Donny Cutchall.

Burial will follow at Minnow Creek Cemetery. Jeremy Avaritt, Clint Avaritt, Josh Avaritt, Shane Cutchall, Skylar Lee, and Mike Mahoney will serve as pallbearers.

Owalah Lou (Fields) Bates was born November 28, 1935, in Enid, OK.
She departed this life on October 27, 2020, at the age of 84 years.

On August 17, 1953 she was joined in marriage to Paul D. Bates. There were three daughters born to this union: Melony Kay, Lesa Faye and Annette Alise. She was a member of Church of Christ. During their years of marriage, she enjoyed following her husband around as a preacher's wife, and she enjoyed spending time sewing and cooking.

Owalah is survived by two daughters Melony Kay Cutchall and husband Donny of Fouke, AR; Lesa Faye Avaritt and husband Keith of Clarksville; seven grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren; one brother Lyle Fields of TX; and one sister Glenda Siemens and husband Gene of Clarksville.

Owalah was preceded in death by her parents, James J. & Rena Faye (Coleman) Fields; her husband Paul D. Bates; one daughter Annette Alise Bates.

Visitation will be held, 4:00-6:00 PM, family will meet friends and family 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 30, 2020 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Avaritt & Terry Avaritt. Burial will follow at Minnow Creek Cemetery. Jeremy Avaritt, Clint Avaritt, Josh Avaritt, Shane Cutchall, Skyelar Lee, and Mike Mahoney will serve as pallbearers.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 100 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
