Claiborne Briscoe Ivy, aged 84, of LaMarque, Texas, died Friday, January 3, 1964 at Texas City, Texas. Born in Calhoun County on August 12, 1879, the son of George W. and Mollie Stevens Ivy, he was married to the late Ila Mae Weisinger on February 22, 1902. Mr. Ivy served for many years as a member of the County Board of Education and on the Board of Election Commissioners before moving to Texas 17 years ago. Survivors include three sons, Dan Ivy of LaMarque, Larkin Ivy of Hampton and Mack Ivy of Texas City; a brother, Frank Ivy of Hampton; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Ezell of Little Rock, Mrs. Nell Talbot of Harrell and Mrs. Bunn Rice of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at Camp Ground Church by Rev. L. B. Moseley and Rev. Horace Snipes. Burial was at Camp Ground Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifton Ables, Dewitt Porter, Ben Stringfellow, Buddy Hollingsworth, Herman Dunn, Joe Fred McDonald, R. L. Goodwin and Hollis Reap. (Calhoun Herald - January 9, 1964)
