Mae (Rose) Vickers, 86, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away at White River Medical Center on August 14, 2018 in Batesville, Arkansas. Mae was born on May 1, 1932 in Big Flat, Arkansas to the late Dewey and Iva C. (Southern) Rose. Mae married Kenneth Vickers on May 1, 1948. Mae was a member of the Church of Christ. She had many hobbies but loved flowers and gardening. Mae worked as a reporter for the Big Flat Community News. She was a caregiver, and worked for many years as a cook at Big Flat Schools; she was also a cook and a bus driver for the Big Flat Senior Citizen Center. Mae will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Mae is survived by one daughter, Linda Sue Henry from Kingsman, Arizona; four sisters, Lenora Sutterfield of Russellville, Arkansas, Rena McDaniel of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Shirley Fletcher of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Needy Bell Bullard of Onia, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jerry (Sherry) Henry of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Richard Vickers of Little Rock, Arkansas, Georgia Vickers of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Paul and Payne along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Iva C. (Southern) Rose; her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth Vickers; one son, Joseph Vickers; one grandson, Gerald Jr. Henry; six sisters, Nola, Lola, Gladys, Bassie, Lillie Bell (LB), and Mary Ann, and one brother, Willie; as well as her special friend, Johnny Ritter.
Visitation is Friday, August 17, 2018 at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas from 11:00AM-12:00PM. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00PM with Brother Darryl Treat officiating. Interment will be at Big Flat Cemetery in Big Flat, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Ted Wammack, Jerry Henry, Dale Vickers, Marlin Vickers, Donald Cheatham, and Richard Vickers.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
