July 14, 1939-Aug 18, 2014

Mrs. Betty Lou (Ireland) Madden, of the Cow Lake Community, Beedeville, departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the age of 75. She was born July 14, 1939, in Jackson County, the daughter of Lewis Carter Ireland and Lillian Evelyn (Massey) Ireland.
Mrs. Betty grew up in Beedeville and was a member of the Beedeville High School Class of 1959. During her High School years, she was a highly competitive member of the basketball, softball, and track teams.
Miss Betty Lou Ireland married Mr. Ralph E. Madden on April 5, 1959, and they enjoyed 42 years together until Ralph’s passing in 2002.
Mrs. Madden was a homemaker, her most treasured work was that of being a wife to Ralph, a mother to Tony and Tara, a grandmother to Brad, Paige, and Ashton, and a loving aunt to the many Ireland and Madden nieces and nephews she loved so dearly. She was a devoted member of the Beedeville Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years. During her working years, Mrs. Madden worked as a substitute teacher at the Beedeville schools and as a part-time postmaster. She also worked 10 years for Van Heusen Shirt Factory. Mrs. Madden’s giving spirit was evident in so many ways, but none more than her love of volunteering. She gave much of her time to activities involving her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Madden expressed her creative side by working in ceramics, crafts, sewing, and painting. She was a great fan of bargain shopping and playing cards. She was adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and all who knew her. Mrs. Madden had a kind and fun loving spirit. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, her genuine interest in those she loved, and her laughter. She will be sorely missed by so many family and friends.
Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ralph E. Madden; three brothers, Jimmy Ireland, Billy Lewis Ireland, and Scotty Lee Ireland; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Tony Madden and wife, Karen, of Beedeville and Tara (Madden) London and husband, Tim, of Searcy; three grandchildren, Bradley London and Paige London both of Searcy, and Ashton Madden of Beedeville; her brother, Danny Ireland of Beedeville and her constant companion her beloved dog, Molly. Also surviving is a host of loving family and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Beedeville Church of Christ with Dr. Gary Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Madden Cemetery.
