Ione Oakes Gore, 98, of Pensacola, Florida, and formerly of Blytheville, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, November 2, 2014, in Pensacola.

Born in Holcomb, MO., to H.B. and Rosa Oakes. The family moved to Blytheville in 1919 where Ione lived most of her life. In 1994, she moved to Pensacola to live with her daughter, Donna Sue.

Ione was a beautician/cosmetologist for 60 years, and her customers were many of her good friends. She was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church, where as an adult enjoyed working with youth, United Methodist Women, Sunday school, Bible Studies, sewing groups and more.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Gore; sister, Elsie O. Keener; special cousin, Marie Smothermon; and grandson, Tyler Gore.

She is survived by her son, Fred Gore Jr.; daughter, Donna Sue Gore; nephews, George O. Ropp (Anna) and Paul Ropp; granddaughters, Marion Ellen Albrektsen and Laura Ann Gore; great grandsons, Jonathon Albrektsen and Devon Gore; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at Cobb Funeral Home Reception Home. Burial was private.

Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend
