*Dorothy Elizabeth Thacker Gurno, 95, of Mayfield, Kentucky and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mayfield, Kentucky. Dorothy was born in Pettigrew, Arkansas to Clarence and Ellen (Starr) Thacker. She was a retired practical nurse at Walls Hospital and Doctor's Hospital. She was also retired from Union Carbide. Dorothy enjoyed sitting with the elderly. She loved to crochet, read, talking on the phone with her friends, and fishing when she could. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver H. Gurno; her parents; a son, David Gurno; a grandson, Michael Maddox; seven brothers; and three sisters. Dorothy leaves her children, Patsy McCants (Bob) of Murray Kentucky, Carolyn Rounsavall (Danny) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Betty Kirk (Hulon) of Murray, Kentucky, and Billy Gurno (Anna) of Kennesaw, Georgia; four grandchildren, Gary Maddox, Terry Maddox, Brian Maddox, and Katherine Elizabeth Gurno; and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Maddox, Westin Maddox, Easton Maddox, Riley Maddox, Holly Dixon, Eli Maddox, and Ryleigh Maddox. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
