DODSON, Retta E. RENNER - Mrs. Retta E. Dodson, wife of Dr. C.G. Dodson, died Monday afternoon at 5:45 o'clock of uremic poison. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South Wednesday morning at 9:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.V. Womack, assisted by Rev. J.W. House, after which the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery, being laid to rest near the infant son for whom deceased gave her life. Retta E. Renner was born at Parrottsville, Tenn. March 11, 1874, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Renner, and at an early age came with her parents to Springdale, which has since been her home. In November 1888 she made a profession of religion, uniting with the M.E. Church, South, of which she continued an earnest and devoted member until her death. January 31, 1899 she was united in marriage to Dr. C.G. Dodson, by whom she is survived. Deceased is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Chas. F. and Mack Renner of Springdale and Mrs. M.E. Phenicie of Reno, Kan. and Mrs. Kate Patterson of Springfield, Mo. The sisters were both present at the funeral, Mrs. Phenicie having arrived Tuesday morning and Mrs. Patterson, accompanied by her husband, H.R. Patterson and little son, arriving Monday night. Mrs. Dodson's illness first manifested itself Thursday of last week and at times Friday it appeared that she would survive but a short time but Saturday and Sunday morning there appeared to be a change for the better and it was generally understood that she was on the road to recovery. Sunday afternoon and Sunday night she began failing and it was evident that the end was near. Watchers at the bedside could scarcely tell when final dissolution took place so quiet and peaceful was the end. Having spent her life in this community the deceased was well known to all and was esteemed and respected by all. Of a bright, cheery disposition she carried sunshine wherever she went and there are many outside of her own home who were made to grieve at her death and who will sadly miss her.
