DAVIS, Nancy Ann Rebecca ABERCROMBIE - Died Dec. 23rd, 1907 at her home near Sulphur Springs, Ark., Nancy Ann Rebecca Davis (nee Abercrombie) in the 65th year of her age. Deceased was born in Georgia May 6th, 1843. She was married to the late W.L. Davis Jan. 26th, 1860. To them were born six children, three sons and three daughters, all living. Two only of the children, two faithful and loving daughters, were with her in her last illness. The homes of the others were too remote to admit of their presence at the time of her death, which though not unexpected, was sudden. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Homer Pierson of Fayetteville, Ark. who was physically unable for the journey. Sister Davis accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in early womanhood and united with the C.P. church. She lived an upright christian life. Many of the latter years of her life were years of affliction and great suffering, naturally leading her to expect and prepare for death and the future. When the end came she was peaceful and resigned. She was among the pioneers of that part of the country, having spent most of her life in the community where she died. Her life was truly a home life; the christian influence of which left its imprints for good upon the hearts and lives of her children and neighbors. Her death means the breaking up of a home of almost half a century and points to the rapidly passing old land marks of the church and the community. Her funeral service was largely attended by her kindred and neighbors and her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at the Baptist church near Sulphur Springs, Ark. P. Carnahan.
