*Obituary for Dale Vandervort

Mr. Dale E. Vandervort, 88, of Newport, departed this life on Friday, April 4, 2014. He was born December 9, 1925 at Austinburg, Ohio, the son of William Ray and Margaret Ann (Goshorn) Vandervort.
Mr. Vandervort was a retired truck driver, and an excellent woodworker. He was a United States Navy veteran, who was very strong and in command of everything in his life. He enjoyed helping his neighbors, and was a member of the Campbell Station Baptist Church.
Mr. Vandervort was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Matthew and Drew Smith Vandervort; and three brothers, William, Scott, and Richard Vandervort.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dale (Ringuet) Vandervort; two sons, Mark Vandervort of Lakeland, Florida and Jeffrey Dale Vandervort of Crestview, Florida; two daughters, Janis Rae Vandervort Shortridge of King George, Virginia, and Karen Marie Urban Ohlheiser of Yelm, Washington; one brother, Clifford Vandervort; and several grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday, 1:00 p.m. until service time. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Gracelawn Cemetery.
