Lois Retha (Flaherty) Watkins, age 95 of Camden, AR went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 6, 2009. She was born on February 19, 1914 in Bethel Community (Columbia County) the eigth of ten children of Alvin (Bud) and Izzie (Perry) Flaherty.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dale L. Watkins; one baby son; her parents; three brothers; Audrey, Otis and Arthur; six sisters, Effie, Altie, Dora, Beatrice, Ivie and Margaret.

She is survived by four children, Charles Watkins and wife Josie of North Little Rock, AR, Billy Watkins and wife, Ursula of Killeen, TX, Peggy Walthall and husband, Bobby of White Oak Lake, AR and Ann Walker and husband, Mike of Parkerfield, KN. She was also a very special Mamaw to fifteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. She ws also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and a wonderful church family.

She was a generous and caring person. She had a knack for meeting other people's needs in very practical ways. If you ever had a smile, a hug, or a pie, cake or meal at her table, you were loved by a very special person. She valued God, family and friends. She worked in the nursery and preschool Sunday School as long as she was able. She also worked on the committee to provide meals for folks who had a death in the church family until age 90. The happiest time in her life was when she was surrounded by family and friends. These memories will always be cherished in our hearts. The three other siblings, who live out of the area, wish to express their profound appreciation to Peggy for looking after our mother in her last years. We are aware that this was a labor of love and God picked a very special person to accomplish this task. We will always be grateful and our prayers are that God will provide a special reward for Peggy's efforts.

The family would like to thank Dr. DeLuca & staff and the staff of Valley Oaks Nursing Center. Their professional care provided in a patient and kind manner is deeply appreciated by all the family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. Saturday, August 08, 2009 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p. m.
