Accident Fatal To City Youth
A five-year old Rogers boy Wednesday became the city's first traffic fatality this year when the bicycle he was riding collided with a Volkswagen bus at the intersection of Fourth and Mulberry streets.
The victim was identified by Rogers police as Roger Dale Stacy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stacy, 1201 S. Fifth St. The child was taken to Rogers Memorial Hospital about 1:45 p.m. in a J and J ambulance and was pronounced dead at 2:07 p.m.
Injured in the mishap was the driver of the small bus, Cecil Paul Pinkley, Jr., 21, Rogers. He was also taken to Rogers Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.
Police said the mishap occurred when the Stacy child was attempting to cross the intersection at Fourth and Mulberry streets from east to west and apparently failed to see the Pinkley vehicle which was southbound on Fourth Street. The wheels of the vehicle were believed to have run over the child, police said.
According to the police report, Pinkley skidded 69 feet, crashed into a street sign and overturned his vehicle in an attempt to avoid hitting the child on the bicycle. Heavy damage was estimated to the vehicle.
Police said there were no charges made in connection with the accident.
Born Feb. 14, 1963 in Rogers, Roger Dale Stacy attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his parents include two sisters, Deborah Ann and Kimberly Denise, both of the home; a brother, Dannie Eugene, of the home; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Stella Warren, Rogers; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lillie Landers, Rogers; and the paternal grandfather, M. 0. Stacy, Delaney, Ark.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

Funeral services for Robert Dale Stacy will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.M. Johns officiating. Burial will be in the Scotts Cemetery under the direction of the Sisco Funeral Home.
