When Thomas Layfetts Potts was born on April 5, 1879, in Tennessee, his father, W, was 25 and his mother, Julia, was 21. He married Mary Louise Louisa Berry in 1902 in Arkansas. They had nine children in 16 years. He died on June 12, 1950, in Faulkner, Arkansas, at the age of 72.
