When William P Shaw was born on March 28, 1850, in Alabama, his father, William, was 53 and his mother, Rebecca, was 42. He married Rebecca E Ball on December 29, 1870, in Coosa, Alabama. They had four children during their marriage. He died on August 28, 1911, in Wooster, Arkansas, at the age of 61, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.

Way back when....
Most folks around Faulkner County are familiar with the Shaw Bridge that spans Cadron Creek about five miles west of Wooster, but most don't know about the man who build it. That man was Bill Shaw, pictured here with his wife Beck and their children (top from left) Frankie Shaw Hargrove, Buddy Shaw, Rebecca "Bessie" Shaw Langston; (second row) Cora Shaw Jenkins and Mollie Shaw Graham Patton. The picture was taken in about 1895. Bill Shaw was born in 1850 and died in 1911. Before he built the Shaw Bridge he ran a ferry across the Cadron pulling from bank to bank with ropes.
