Kathleen Strickland Bell, age 91, passed away February 14, 2018, in Jackson, Tennessee, where she resided for the past 17 months. She was born June 26, 1926, in Plainview,Arkansas daughter of the late William A Strickland and Kathleen Turner Strickland. She was a graduate of Plainview-Rover High School and a 1947 graduate of Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a degree in history. On August 24, 1947, she married William S Bell and they celebrated their 70th anniversary this past August.Kathleen was a classroom teacher for 28 years first in Conway, then Plainview, Wynne, Helena, Forrest City, and her last year, 1982-1983, was in the Plainview-Rover School. She was very much interested in local and family history and produced books concerning St Francis County as well as writing a book about the Strickland family and the Turner family. She was also a very talented individual from singing, all kinds of needlework, and painting.
She was a member of the General William Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pope County Historical Association, Yell County Historical and Genealogical Association, and a member of the Plainview United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, W A Strickland, Jr; and a nephew, Dub Strickland. She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” S Bell, Sr; brother David Kerry Strickland (Sharon); children Sharon Hamilton, Bill Bell, Jr, Melissa Duncan and friend Jimmy Floyd; grandchildren, Sarah Williams (Ryan), David, Daniel (Jodi) and Drew Duncan; and great-grandchildren, Eli, John, David, and Lawson Duncan, and Dawson, Claire, and Nolan Williams; and many former students and friends.
