James Harold Jackson, 72, of Atkins, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Baptist Health Center in Little Rock. He was born July 1, 1941, in Atkins, son of the late Rev. Rayburn and Lucille Brashear Jackson.

He was employed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers for thirty-five years. He received outstanding performance awards and letters of appreciation from the Corps, especially during times of flood or drought. James Harold served as President of the Atkins Jaycees and Chairman of the Atkins Recreation Committee. He volunteered his time to build and maintain baseball fields for the youth of Atkins. He coached Little League baseball for twenty-five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Ava Nicole Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Paulette Hurst Jackson; 2 sons, Jarrett Jackson and wife Rhea, and John Jackson and wife Alice, all of Atkins; 2 brothers, C.L. Jackson of Searcy, and Rev. Carroll Jackson of Arkadelphia; and 4 grandchildren, Connor Jackson, Zoe Jackson, Ben Jackson and Mallory Jackson.

Graveside service and burial is 2:00 PM, Monday, June 2, at Bowden Cemetery with Rev. Rita Richardson officiating. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the Atkins Youth Association, c/o Shawn Rooke, 6461 SR 363, Russellville, AR 72802.
