Velma Lea Lindsey Nutt, 89 of Mabelvale, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Little Rock. She was born February 3, 1923 in Bearden, Arkansas to the late Richard L. and Emma A. Wilkins Lindsey. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a communications specialist in Navy Intelligence and was a member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Nutt; a grandson, J. Cody Nutt; one brother, and four sisters. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Hallie Nutt of Mabelvale; a son, David V. Nutt and wife Cindy of West Fork, Arkansas; a brother, Lloyd Lindsey and wife Ruby of Kilgore, Texas; a sister, Jean Parnell of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Lindsey Lea Huskey and Tanner Don Nutt, great grandchildren Kaley Savannah Huskey, Kenley Belle Huskey and Trenton Vincent Nutt.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Little Rock. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery near Bearden. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Salem Cemetery Association or to the Geyer Springs Baptist Church Music Fund. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
