Obituary

Oma Lea Beckham
April 8, 1921 - July 31, 2014

Oma Lea left us July 31 at age 93.

She graced us all with her down home sweetness, soft southern accent and gentle, loving nature.

Born in Mountain View, Arkansas on April 8, 1921 to Edward and Nola (Farris) Decker, she was the loving wife of E.C. 'Ches' Beckham for 68 years until his death in 2010.

Following working stints in Oregon beginning in 1950, they moved to Oregon in September of 1954 to work and raise three young sons near Vida on the McKenzie River, remaining for over 30 years; returning to Arkansas to begin retirement years.

Retirement for Oma Lea and Ches Beckham was somewhat of a misnomer as they both remained impressively hard working all their lives. Both were performing remodeling work on their rental houses until nearing their 90's--and always lending a hand helping to others in need. Following his death she returned to Oregon in 2012.

She is survived by her sons, Decker (wife Cheryl) of Springfield, Oregon; Dow (Darla) of Mt. View, Arkansas and Stephen (Jan) of Canby, Oregon and four grandchildren.

She requested no service, and cremation, with a portion of her ashes resting alongside Ches at Flatwoods Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. View, Arkansas, only a few rows away from where her parents and siblings all rest. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
