MELBOURNE - Oveta J. Stroud, 85, of Melbourne died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Batesville.
Born July 5, 1917, in Melbourne, she was the daughter of Troy and Lilly Hall. She was a past employee of the White River Shirt Factory and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth "Buck" Stroud of Batesville, Harold Stroud of Melbourne and Larry Stroud of Clarksville; four sisters, Della Farthing of Illinois, Violet Vines, Mary Jane Hicks and Wanda Rivedal, all of Washington; five brothers, G.W. Hall, Joe Hall, Roland Hall, Dennis Hall, all of Washington, and Wayne Hall of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Randy Stroud and Rodney Stroud, both of Batesville, Kendall Stroud of Myron, Kelly Quinn of Conway, Rusty Stroud and Laney Breckenridge, both of Jonesboro, and Holly Vinson of Newark; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rayburn O. Stroud; a son, Keith Stroud; and a sister, Jewel Shirley.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Melbourne with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be at the Melbourne Cemetery with arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy Stroud, Rodney Stroud, Kendall Stroud, Rusty Stroud, Jason Stroud and T.J. Stroud.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hale Bibb, Fred Blankenship and Dr. Robert Walton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
Memorials may be made to the Melbourne Cemetery.
