Veta Gwyn Graham Blewster, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, November 17, 2012, at her residence.

She graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway in 1948, with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. She was a public school Music teacher in Stamps, Arkansas; Magnolia, Arkansas; Stillwater, Oklahoma; Ponca City, Oklahoma; Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and for over 30 years in the El Dorado School System, including Retta Brown Elementary and Northwest Elementary Schools.
Veta was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the professional honorary society of women educators for many years. She was "Teacher of the Year" in El Dorado in 1982, and retired in 1985 and joined her husband in operating Blewster's Antiques in 1986.

She was an active choir member in First United Methodist Church for over 40 years, director of Methodist Youth Fellowship for many years, and a long time teacher and member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.

She and her husband enjoyed aviation and she was one of the few women aviators in El Dorado and could boast being a survivor of an airplane crash while piloting.

She enjoyed playing the piano and accompanied her husband and children as well as many vocalists in the area, and was active in many community music groups.

Veta is survived by her husband, Carroll Blewster of El Dorado, Arkansas; two children, Gwyn Stuart of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Carroll Blewster, Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her sister, Lou Dean Graham Howard and her husband, Bob Howard, of High Point, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Rachel Stuart Haas of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sarah Storm of Franklin, Tennessee, Winston Blewster of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Winifred Blewster of New Orleans, Louisiana; and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nathan E. Graham of Stamps, Arkansas; and her brother, Reverend Doyne E. Graham of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

A special thanks to all of you for your prayers, and to Dr. Gary Bevill and Sheena Ford for their love and excellence in caring for Veta over the years.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Polk officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Tuesday, at Young's.
