BENTONVILLE — Marian Grace Jones Malley, age 92, of Bentonville, Ark., formerly of Fullerton, Calif., passed away on Jan. 5, 2014. Mrs. Malley was born Oct. 10, 1921, to Mark M. and Sarah W. Jones in Bentleyville, Pa.
She resided in Pennsylvania until May 1949 when she motored to California and was employed in the field of accounting until her retirement in 1996.
Marian was educated in the Point Marion, Pa., public schools and Morgantown Business College. From 1944 until 1949, she was employed as the secretary-bookkeeper at Almar Metal Arts in Point Marion. In May 1949, she was hired as a staff accountant with V.G. Malley Bookkeeping Services in Compton, Calif., which later relocated to Fullerton. In June 1952 she and Mr. Malley were married at Our Lady of Victory Church, also in Compton.
She continued working in her employment until his untimely death in March 1970. At this time, the business was sold and Marian continued working as a self-employed accountant. In December 1996, she sold the family home and moved to Bentonville, Ark., in January 1997 to retire near family.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Bales and her husband, Rod; two sons, Robert Malley and his wife, Dawn, John Malley and his wife, Barbara; three grandchildren, Sara French, Seth Malley, Kurt Bales; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Jackson and her husband, Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Ms. Malley will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
A visitation will be held on today, Jan 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Interment will follow the service in the Bentonville Cemetery.
