Dale Clarence Talburt was born on June 14, 1931, in Cumi, Arkansas, to Clarence Vernon and Ethel Maxine (Walker) Talburt. He departed this life October 29, 2014, in Viola, Arkansas, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 15 days.
Dale was united in marriage to Kay Driskell Bell on June 14, 1990, in West Plains, Missouri. He was a military veteran serving thirty-seven years in the Army and Army National Guard retiring as a Colonel in 1991. Dale was also a teacher and university professor with forty-four years in the education system. He began teaching in Salem in 1956 and retired from Missouri State University-West Plains in 2000. Dale was a member of the Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Viola, Arkansas; daughter, Dalena Kay Allen of West Plains, Missouri; son, Jerry Laurel Talbert Broughton (Colleen) of Springfield, Missouri; three stepdaughters, Rebecca Lee (Keith) of Willow Springs, Missouri, Misty Bell of Moody, Missouri, and Amy Hunsucker (Chris) of West Plains, Missouri; stepson, Lee Bell (Catherine) of Ozark, Missouri; two grandchildren, Michael Allen and Sonya Allen Turner (Burtis); twelve step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Dale was preceded in death by two wives, Dean and Geraldine; son, Roger Dale Broughton; granddaughter, Nicolette Dale Allen; parents; and two sisters, Virginia Luther and Helen Huett.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014, 10:00 AM at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Interment will be in the Custer-Herron Cemetery in Henderson, Arkansas, with full military honors. Services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials preferred to Wounded Warriors.
