REDINGTON, Jno. P. - The subject of this sketch, Jno. P. Redington, was born in Franklin county, Indiana September 30, 1826. His parents afterward moved to Decatur county, Indiana where he was principally reared. He was married to Esther E. Parker in 1848, moved to Linn county, Iowa in 1854. About twenty years ago he came to Benton county, Arkansas where he has since lived. On the 26th day of August 1901 his wife died. He was married again on Nov. the 5th, 1906 to Mrs. Pruyne. He died at his home on the 19th day of July 1909. We all miss Uncle Joe. We all loved and respected him. He was optimistic in his nature, always carrying sunshine in his time-worn face. Never courting gloom nor despair. Meet him where you would, he always met you with a smile. A man of great fortitude. Always lived for what was in life for him. Strictly honest and upright to a letter. No man doubted his word nor obligations. His health began to fail early in the present year and that wonderful vigor which he always possessed began to decay. Yet when the icy, relentless fingers of inevitable disease throttled his hopes, he retained that happy disposition to the last sad hour when he said, "I believe I will take a rest," and wrapping the drapery of his couch around him, laid down as if to pleasant dreams and instantly was no more. 'Tis sad to give him up. A Friend.
