Funeral services for Clarence Philpot, 78, who died Christmas night at Forrest Memorial Hospital, will be held Wednesday in Stevens Funeral Home. Rev. Clyde Hankins will conduct the services, with burial in Forrest Park cemetery. Mr.Philpot had been ill with a heart condition for 10 years, and seriously ill and in the hospital for six weeks. Born Aug.9,1888, near Mena, Ark., the son of Mrs. Jodie Gardner Philpot and Jess Philpot. He had made his home in and around Forrest City since 1913, and resided at 110 South Grant Street at the time of his death. A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ophelia Smith Philpot, whom he married in 1908; two sons, Ernest Philpot of Staten Island, N.Y., and Carroll Philpot of Jonesboro; three brothers, Walter and Homer, both of Nevada City, Calif., and William of Okla. City, Okla.
