Mrs. Blanche Ross Branscum, 87, of Dyersburg, and a former longtime resident of Blytheville, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Dyersburg Regional Hospital.
She was born in Dell to the late Jim and Janie Hardin Ross. She was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Blytheville, Ark., organized in 1957.
She was a retired insurance agent, having been employed by United Insurance Agency for 30 years. She sang Gospel music with the Ross Sisters, which included Blanche, Mavis Harris, her sister, and Dianne Wilkinson, her daughter, and was heard on the Sunday morning radio program on KLCN in the 1950's and 1960's. She enjoyed bowling and was a championship bowler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin O. "Buster" Branscum; two brothers, Raymond Ross and Marvin Ross; and one sister, Mavis Harris.
Mrs. Branscum leaves her daughter, Dianne Wilkinson; and her son, the Rev. James Branscum and his wife Sondra, all of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Rachel Beard of Fairview, TN, and John Branscum of Lewisburg, TN; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with the Rev. James Branscum officiating. Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.
