James Howard Hayes, 57, of Rt. 6, Box 118, Huntsville, Ark., died Dec. 21, 1991, at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1934, at Whitener, Ark., the son of Howard and Eva Shepherd Hayes. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Northwest Oil Company of Fayetteville.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Velma Dennis Hayes of the home; one son, Jerry Hayes of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hayes of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Lawrence of Huntsville and Mrs. Betty Easley of Peculair, Mo.; one nephew, Perry Thompson of Garden City, Mo.; and two great-nephews, Matt Thompson and Mart Thompson, both of Garden City, Mo.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Day and the Rev. Harold DuVall officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Billy Joe Ferguson, Perry Thompson, Keith Ward, Rodney Wages, Donnie Holland and Billy Bouchard. Honorary pallbearers were Vester Bowman, Jack Reynolds, Charles Day, Art Bolinger and Raymond McElhaney.

Velma J. Hayes, 72, of Huntsville died Nov. 16, 2006, at her home. She was born Nov. 16 1933, at Aurora to Sidney Eugene and Edna Arilda Cain Dennis. She had been employed at Baldwin Piano Company and Labarge Inc., and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Hayes, on Dec. 21 1991.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Wayne Samuels; three brothers, Boyd Dennis and Cecil Dennis, both of Aurora, and Calvin Dennis of Witter; three sisters, Vivian Bowman and Vercie Reynolds, both of Huntsville, and Sharon Kay Myers of Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Monday at Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Eugene Dennis, Jim Dennis, Earl Williston, Lindell Bowman, Mike Dennis, Dale Dennis, Tim Dennis, Ronald Dennis, Kevin Dennis, Jeff Myers, Perry Thompson, Shay Ferguson and Ryan Wages.
