Dorsey "Darb" Parson, 83, of Route 5, Box 901, Huntsville, Ark., died Feb. 28, 1994, at his home. He was born Jan. 8, 1911, at Wharton, Ark., the son of Homer H. and Bertha Isabell Phillips Parson. He was a farmer and was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Parson and Garland Parson.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Cornett Parson of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Buddy Spurlock of Huntsville; six brothers, Chesley Parson of Tecumseh, Okla., Bill Parson of Elkins, Everett Parson of Ontario, Calif., Sam Parson of Marble, Henry Ford Parson of Springdale, and Lee Parson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Elam of Hood River, Ore.; and one grandson, Darby Spurlock of Huntsville.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy I. Cain officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jasper Spradling, Johnny Parson, Kenneth Cornett, Dewey Spurlock, H.L. Parson, Alfred Parson and Bob Parson. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Steele, Maurice Steele, Tom Wyatt, Charlie Carpenter, Larry Carpenter, Gary Inman, Max Bolinger, James Bolinger, Jimmie Bennett, T.B. Lyman, C.N. Watson and Cread Stansell.

Mattie "Mat" (Cornett) Parson, 95, of Huntsville, died on Feb. 1, 2010, at her home. She was born on Oct. 3, 1914, at Venus, the daughter of Sam and Rosetta (Pruitt) Cornett. She was a homemaker, a Christian and the widow of Dorsey Lincoln "Darb" Parson, her husband of 57 years, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1994. She was the last of seven children born to the Cornetts.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Buddy Spurlock of Huntsville; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Darby and Courtney Spurlock of Huntsville; and one great-grandson, Dane Spurlock of Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Ministers Butch Bolinger officiating. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Cornett, Kent Brian Cornett and Kevin Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Beasley, H. L. Parson, Dewey Spurlock, John Parson, Kenneth Parson, X Dotson, James Bolinger, Phil Bolinger and the Countryside Staff. Memorials may be made to the Upper Wharton Church Building Fund in care of Wanda Evans, 909 Buffside Drive, Huntsville, AR 72740.
